Individually customized bookmarks for young (&young in spirit) readers. In this collection each person selected a favorite animal, entity, or item. Each bookmark was sawed and pierced to preserve rigidity while incorporating delicate nuances. The brass blanks were approximately 1"x7" in length, and 1/32"-1/64" in thickness.

Jewelry
Commissioned artwork. In this ensemble each piece reflects the expressed desires of the clients toward form, material, usage, and inclusion of semiprecious stones. A combination of steps were applied: bars forged, wire and tube drawn, parts filed and soldered; hammered finishing, ornamental details pierced and cut, and stones secured by hammer and prong settings.

Frog and ear rings created via the silver clay medium. Rope hoops drawn and twisted wire, then soldered. The shepherd French hook purchased and added.

Paired Sliding Bookends
Commissioned bookends: A bat mitzvah gift with a bit of shine. The design was inspired by Joshua Slocum's sloop the Spray. The Spray carried Joshua Slocum safely on his solo circumnavigation of the world in the late 1800s. In my rendition, metallic sails were polished, hammered, and tempered to reflect back the young recipient's image, as he too begins his journey in life. The design incorporated a variety of techniques: metal shaping, piercing, and soldering; hand-cut threaded screws- capped with hammer set stones; wood shaping, wood bending, and metal plate and wire inlay. A hand rubbed finish or dye and oils was applied to emphasize the tiger stripe maple. These vivid stripes represent the setting sun on horizons. The silver maple leaf was my name-sake signature. The culminating detail: the two halves slide together, forming the sloop.
